Independent Contractor / Mostly Remote
Are you a tech-savvy accounting professional looking to make a tangible impact right here in New Orleans? The New Orleans Healing Center is seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to join our team as an independent contractor.
The Healing Center is a hub for healing (mind, body, spirit), housing local businesses and offering vital community programs like a free pantry, pet food assistance, and a study library. We also host engaging events, all dedicated to healing, uplifting, and supporting our community.
You’ll play a crucial role in our financial operations, managing payroll, bill paying, financial reporting, and preparing for audits. We’re also excited for your expertise in helping us build a strategic budget that allows for future growth and projects.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has proven experience in bookkeeping and financial management, ideally within a nonprofit setting.
- Is proficient with modern accounting software (experience with QuickBooks is a plus for a smooth transition).
- Is passionate about streamlining financial processes, embraces electronic solutions, and can help us bring our accounting procedures into the current age (less paper, more efficiency!).
- Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Is based in the New Orleans area and can attend quarterly in-person meetings.
- Understands the independent contractor model and has other clients or income sources, as this is not a full-time position.
