Day of the Dead / Fet Gede: A Celebration of the Dead The New Orleans Healing Center and La Source Ancienne Ounfo invite you to experience the vibrant traditions of Day of the Dead and Fet Gede (the Haitian Day of the Dead). For 45 years, La Source Ancienne Ounfo, a New Orleans-based Vodou society, has celebrated the Day of the Dead/Fet Gede with an annual Vodou ceremony. The celebration offers a comforting reminder that our Dead are not gone, and we can honor and visit with them as a community. In turn, our memory of them keeps their spirits alive and present. This is a FREE event and open to the public! ⭐️Event Details What: Day of the Dead/Fet Gede Celebration When: Sunday, November 1st, 2026, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm Where: New Orleans Healing Center, 2372 St Claude Ave, corner of St Roch and St. Claude. To get into the spirit of the ceremony, attendees are encouraged to wear white with a purple head scarf, or purple and black, which are the Gede’s colors. ⭐️What you can Experience See unique altars for the Dead/Ancestors created by various local artists. Guests are invited to bring photos of your Dead or remembrances for the main Ancestors altar located on the main stage. Sundays, 4-25 October 2026, 1-3PM EDT The practice of collage takes on many forms. A practice will be shaped by the goals of the artist and what they want to achieve with their artwork, how they want to diffuse their artwork in the broader ecosystem of art. It will also be informed by the choice of material, scale, and subject matter. A collage practice is also informed by the history of artists who came before and how an artist chooses to be in dialogue or opposition with their creative ancestors. A working understanding of one’s practice is critical to one’s professional and artistic development. When the recycling bins are overflowing or bags are left on the floor, we have no choice but to toss the extra items directly into the dumpster. That means all of those carefully saved cans unfortunately end up in the trash instead of being recycled. Check before you head out! You can now check our website before leaving the house to see if our bins are already full! If the recycle bins are full, please do not stack bags on top or leave them on the floor. Take overflow home: If there’s no room inside the bin, take your bagged cans home with you and bring them back next time. Keep it tidy: Keeping the area clear prevents pest issues and ensures our staff can keep this community program running smoothly.
